A Student's Guide to Writing a Global Health Policy Brief

2019

This writing guide provides guidance to students on how to create an effective policy brief focused on a global health topic. Policy briefs rely on clear, coherent writing and data presentation to reach their desired audience. Acknowledging that graphical literacy is an important skillset to develop in order to first critically analyze data and then connect this data to policy, the guide includes numerous figures to illustrate the kinds of evidence that may be used in writing a policy brief.

This guide was originally prepared as a resource for students in the Harvard College course, “Societies of the World 24, Is Globalization Good or Bad for World Health?” taught by the Incubator's Faculty Director, Sue J. Goldie, MD, MPH.
