2023 Food Insecurity in Asia and the Pacific

2023

This report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provides a regional overview of food security and nutrition in Asia and the Pacific. This report provides the latest data on undernourishment, food insecurity, and malnutrition in the region and measures progress toward meeting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 targets for ending hunger globally.

This year’s report finds that 370.7 million people were undernourished in the region, continuing to account for half of the global total. The data urges the need for coordinated and integrated investments to transform agrifood systems in Asia and the Pacific.

The report provides prevalence estimates for stunting, wasting, and overweight indicators for children under five and statistical tables for additional nutrition indicators, including adult obesity, breastfeeding, and low birthweight. Data tables provide prevalence estimates for each nutrition indicator by country.
