This report from the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) features global, regional, and national data on the status of women around the world, particularly within families, considering current economic, demographics, political, and social transformation. Families around the world can be places of care and fulfillment for women, but are too often also spaces where women’s and girls’ rights are violated, their voices are stifled, and where gender inequality prevails. This report proposes a comprehensive family-friendly policy agenda to advance gender equality in diverse families, which in turn would enable economies and societies to thrive and unlock the full potential of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is accompanied by an executive summary, global and regional fact sheets, infographics and data tables, and multimedia features such as video, photos, and “stories of change” from around the world.
