Lancet Series 2014: Aging
2014
This Lancet Series on aging includes five papers that synthesize evidence and suggest strategies to address the health and well-being of older adults. Aging is a neglected area in the health sector and in social and economic policy development. The papers address issues related to mortality, morbidity and disability, well-being, and potential health-system responses. Interventions that are targeted towards older people, including health promotion, disease prevention, and the entire range of care provision, from primary to palliative care, hold the promise of keeping older adults in good health for longer.
Series papers include:
- Causes of International Increases in Older Age Life Expectancy
- The Burden of Disease in Older People and Implications for Health Policy and Practice
- Health, Functioning, and Disability in Older Adults—Present Status and Future Implications
- Subjective Wellbeing, Health, and Ageing
- Macroeconomic Implications of Population Ageing and Selected Policy Responses
