IHME GBD Country Profiles

2021

This web portal, offered by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), provides online country profiles which summarize the findings from the latest 2019 Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) using color-coded graphics. Each printable profile depicts 2019 population data, fertility rate, and educational attainment. Data on health systems, under-5 mortality rate, the top 10 causes of premature death, and other indicators are based on GBD 2019 data. A few indicators still use data from the 2017 GBD Study, as well. The country profiles show country-specific changes between 1990 and 2017 for life expectancy, fertility trends, child mortality, and other population demographics.

Led by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, GBD is a global effort with researchers from over 150 countries and territories. IHME and other partnering organizations have developed numerous resources to disseminate and visualize the findings of the GBD studies, data visualizations and interactives, country profiles, policy reports, research articles, infographics, and the GBD Results Tool, which allows users to search GBD data.
