Sustainable Development Goals

2024

The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 global goals of the 2030 Agenda adopted by the United Nations (UN) Member States and serve as a call to action to address a range of social needs—education, health, equality, job opportunities, climate change, and more—in all countries. The Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) plays a role in the UN’s implementation of and advocacy for the 2030 Agenda and works with governments and stakeholders to achieve the SDGs. The DSDG leads the drafting of the reports on sustainable development topics and conducts policy analysis for governmental deliberations and major conferences related to the SDGs. It also works on capacity development for governing bodies, mobilization and coordination between agencies of the UN system, and outreach to stakeholders.

The SDG Knowledge Platform portal provides interactive resources for all 17 of the SDGs, resources related to the High-Level Political Forum, strategies and initiatives for the Small Island Developing States, an online database repository of actions and plans on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and a variety of resources and publications organized by sustainable development topic. The SDG Knowledge Platform also publishes relevant news releases, a calendar of upcoming events, and a global report outlining science-policy, political leadership and guidance, and input from the bodies of the UN system.
