Commonwealth Fund Country Profiles: Health Care Systems

This web portal, offered by the Commonwealth Fund, provides overview profiles of the health systems in 20 countries. Each country profile includes information about health insurance, public and private financing, health system organization and governance, health care quality and coordination, disparities, efficiency and integration, use of information technology and evidence-based practice, cost containment, and recent reforms and innovations. Data on key health system features and performance indicators are also included. Users can also compare features and statistics across the 20 countries presented.

The Commonwealth Fund is a private foundation dedicated to promoting a high-performing health care system in the United States that increases access, improves quality, and works more efficiently—particularly for the country’s more vulnerable populations. The organization’s primary areas of focus are health care coverage and accesshealth care delivery reform, and international health policy, regularly disseminating findings through freely available publications and data. In addition to case studies that illuminate health care innovation or progress, the Commonwealth Fund publishes numerous issue briefs and reports, data interactives, and benchmarking scorecards.
