GBD 2019: Financing Global Health Data Interactive

2023

This interactive data visualization produced by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is a tool for exploring global health financing patterns and trends from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019). The interactive explores predicted financing flows through 2050 using bar charts, maps, and line graphs, and provides all-cause spending for every country. The 2023 edition includes updated COVID-19 spending estimates by focus area for 2020 and 2021. Users can continue to view HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis spending estimates for low- and middle-income countries from 2000 to 2019 and 2017, respectively, along with malaria spending estimates for endemic countries. Graphics for health spending or development assistance for health (DAH) levels are also available, and the selections can be refined by year, health focus, region, and source of financing.

Led by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, GBD is a global effort with researchers from over 150 countries and territories. IHME and other partnering organizations have developed numerous resources to disseminate and visualize the findings of the GBD studies, data visualizations and interactives, country profiles, policy reports, research articles, infographics, and the GBD Results Tool, which allows users to search GBD data.
