2023 Goalkeepers Report: Imagine a World
2023
This report from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation tracks progress for 18 key indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by the United Nations to address global challenges and end extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change by 2030. Eight years since the SDGs were established in 2015, the 2023 report finds that the world is off track to meet global goals by 2030. This year’s report highlights maternal and neonatal mortality worldwide–noting that progress in improving the health of mothers and infants has stalled. The report offers insight into the innovations needed to address high maternal death rates and improve the survival of mothers and babies– from pregnancy to childbirth and beyond.
The report provides data on the 18 tracked indicators of the SDGs, including HIV, tuberculosis, family planning, universal health coverage (UHC), gender equality, maternal mortality, and more. The report is accompanied by a data portal where users can explore the progress of each of these indicators over time. Goalkeepers aim to accelerate progress toward achieving the Global Goals, specifically focusing on Goals 1-6: poverty, hunger, health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and clean water.
