Lessons Learned and Legacy of the Stop Transmission of Polio Program

2017

This article from the Journal of Infectious Diseases examines the Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) program which was created to provide human resource and technical assistance in eradicating polio. It was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). STOP aided in strengthening disease surveillance and outbreak response. Lessons learned from the development and implementation of the STOP program may inform other successful global development initiatives.
