Realizing Health and Human Rights for Women, Children, and Adolescents

2017

This report from the World Health Organization (WHO) outlines key dimensions of a transformative leadership agenda needed to establish the realization of health and human rights for women, children, and adolescents. It outlines the importance of these populations for sustainable development and offers nine recommendations for leadership approaches that (1) create an enabling environment, (2) partner with people, and (3) strengthen evidence and public accountability. The report focuses on the human rights principles of equality, inclusiveness, non-discrimination, participation, and accountability.

The report was prepared by a working group of the World Health Organization and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to promote the successful implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030).
