Climate Change and Human Health Lesson Plans

2020

This teaching module for high school students, offered by the National Institute of Health and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, invites exploration on the intersections between climate change, the environment, and human health in the United States. The module includes a lesson plan based on the 2016 report from the Obama Administration titled, The Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health in the United States: A Scientific Assessment. It provides a range of activities, answer keys for each of seven chapters in the report, and links to supplemental materials, including the chapter on human health in the 2014 National Climate Assessment and related multimedia. Additional materials available for download include slides, flashcards, and a chart outlining how the lesson aligns with the “Next Generation Science Standards.”
