Partnering to Eliminate Malaria in Zambia

2017

This case study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health describes the aftermath of the successful trial and monitoring of a large-scale drug administration project that was found to reduce the impact of malaria in selected regions of Zambia. It describes the background of malaria in Zambia, the history of the project, and the key stakeholders. The case explains how scientists and other leaders in Zambia’s National Malaria Control Centre and the Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa met to discuss the results, realizing that total eradication of malaria in Zambia may be possible. The case outlines their resolution to work together to assess possible health policy changes, and options for making the intervention suitable for national adoption.
