Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine

2024

The Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine offers informative exhibitions and educational resources that enhance awareness of and appreciation for the library’s collections. The program works with educators from the disciplines of health education, history, literature, science, social studies, and technology to develop content and standards-aligned educational resources that explore how scientific endeavors are shaped by and influence society and culture, complementing online and traveling exhibitions about medicine and the arts, science and society, patients and practitioners, and the technology of medicine. Online educational resources for elementary to higher education levels include lesson plans, higher education modules, online activities, and selected bibliographies and resource lists.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is the world’s largest biomedical library. It maintains and makes available a vast print collection; produces electronic information resources; supports and conducts research, development, and training in biomedical informatics and health information technology; and provides access to health information in communities across the United States. NLM is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the largest public funder of biomedical research in the world, which invests more than $30 billion in taxpayer dollars to achieve its mission to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability.
