American Public Health Association

2024

The American Public Health Association (APHA) is an organization of public health professionals focusing on health reform, science-based advocacy, and policy programs in the United States. APHA publishes the American Journal of Public Health and The Nation’s Health newspaper and hosts an Annual Meeting for convening leaders to share the latest research in public health. APHA aims to improve health and equity within one generation by advocating for federal policy changes and providing ongoing professional development opportunities for health workers. Its work includes leading public health initiatives and campaigns, sharing public health resources, and collaborating with policy-makers to address critical issues.

The APHA focuses on the most pressing topics of the time, including climate, health, and equity, gun violence, vaccines, tobacco, maternal and child health, and more. Each topic page includes relevant resources, upcoming events, legislation, and current work by the APHA in that given area of focus. The APHA also provides reports and issue briefs and fact sheets that highlight the latest research on these topics. Users can gain additional information through the APHA’s events and webinars, news releases, and regularly published journals.
