Pneumonia and Diarrhea Progress Report 2023

2023

This report from the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health analyzes pneumonia and diarrhea in the 15 countries with the greatest burden of pneumonia and diarrhea deaths in children under five. The report analyzes ten key indicators, including exclusive breastfeeding, immunization coverage, and access to healthcare providers and antibiotics to track global progress toward pneumonia and diarrhea targets. The report presents data for each country and uses indicators to calculate an overall score. The 2023 report finds some signs of improvement since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting overall scores improving in four countries since 2022: Nigeria, India, Tanzania, and Cameroon.

The report is accompanied by an executive summary, downloadable country profiles, and a data page that explores pneumonia and diarrhea data across countries.
