"I Know You Want It": Preventing Sexual Aggression in Bars

2018

This case study follows a manager of a bar near Western University’s campus, which is under scrutiny on social media and by local news reporters due to reported sexual assault incidences at the venue. The case describes the ways in which the bar’s manager interacts with community members, including the local police and Western University’s Sexual Violence Prevention team, to collaborate on how to use targeted resources and strategies to address the repeated sexual assault encounters. This case would be suitable for use in classroom discussions about sexual violence, prevention, health promotion, needs assessment, program planning, and stakeholder engagement.

The case contains guidance for instructors, including learning objectives and discussion questions. It is part of a 17-case collection written by students in the MPH class of the Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health at Western University, Canada. The cases may be freely copied and used for educational purposes by an accredited educational institution.
