This report from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) examines the global state of food policy in 2022, putting global challenges and progress in the context of increasingly threatened food systems. This year’s report focuses on food crises, examining evidence to inform preparation, resilience building, and responses to future crises—while improving food insecurity, nutrition, and livelihoods of communities worldwide.

Chapters of the report focus on building resilience, risk monitoring, warning systems, social protection, and promoting gender equality, and also illuminate specific regional trends and developments. The report explores policy solutions and responses toward mitigating the long-term impacts of food crises, offering recommendations for reducing food system shocks amidst a world of overlapping crises, and building resilient food systems for the future.
