The Forum - Deaths From Pregnancy and Childbirth: Why Are More U.S. Mothers Dying and What Can Be Done?

2019

This webcast seminar from The Forum at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health explored the stark disparities that exist in maternal mortality in the U.S. Black women in the U.S. face a three- to four-times higher risk of pregnancy-related deaths compared to their white counterparts. The expert panelists focused on the drivers of this gap, the role of health care systems in alleviating poor outcomes, and the ways mothers and communities themselves can be agents for change. This Forum was presented jointly with PRI’s The World & WGBH.
