WHO Housing and Health Guidelines

2018

This report from the World Health Organization (WHO) provides guidelines and recommendations to reduce the health burden of unsafe housing conditions. As the world population grows and climate change becomes more severe, having housing solutions will become even more critical in providing protection from the cold, heat, and other extreme weather events. Ensuring appropriate housing can also mitigate the spread of infections and occurrence of injuries, while also lessening exposure to asbestos, air pollution, and poor sanitation. These guidelines provide recommendations and interventions, based on a systematic reviews of scientific literature, to lessen risk factors associated with poor quality housing.
