IHME Data Interactive: Population Forecasting

2020

This data visualization from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) explores patterns in population trends from 1950 to 2100 based on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to female educational attainment and access to contraception. The populations trend chart displays past, current, and estimated future population sizes for the global population for both sexes and all ages. These variables can be changed by the user to show population trends for specific regions or countries, for males or females, and for a variety of age groups. The estimations uncertainties can also be toggled on or off. Alternatively, trends in the fertility rate can be viewed for the globe or for specific regions or countries. The data portal also provides interactive population pyramids, allowing the user to select a specific year. Specific regions or countries can be selected for the population pyramid as well.
