Resource Pack: Health of World's Indigenous Peoples

2021

This resource pack, curated by the Global Health Education and Learning Incubator in honor of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, provides a snapshot of indigenous peoples health and wellbeing across the world. To this day, indigenous peoples continue to experience structural barriers to health care access, including geographical isolation, poverty, and systemic bias and racism.

The resources in this digital collection provide an overview of some of the key social, cultural, economic, and political factors that affect the health status of indigenous peoples. Ranging from data portals to case studies, the resources shine a specific light on the impacts of COVID-19 on indigenous communities; opportunities and challenges of climate change; and evolving health disparities.

Resources in this collection were selected for their diversity, both in type of resource (e.g., reports and data portals) and topic (e.g., social determinants or climate change). These resources may be useful to educators as they develop lesson plans, activities, or assignments related to social determinants, history, environmental studies, and more.
