Classroom-Ready Climate & Environment Data Resources

2024

This portal is a collection of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data resources that have been collected from around the world and specifically designed for educators. These resources are easily accessible, classroom-friendly, and include lessons, activities, and curricula about the ocean and the atmosphere. Each resource in the portal lists the target learner level (high school, undergraduate), the type of material (teacher guide), the tools it contains (numerical data, interactive map), and a brief synopsis of the resource.

Certain resources focus on specific topics related to the climate, including ocean tracks, the carbon cycle, and drought data. Others aim to develop specific skills for students, such as using a data literacy framework to understand environmental data and interactive models to understand science. All of the free resources help students engage with real-time data, maps, developing research questions, and thinking critically.
