GBD 2020: Measuring Routine Childhood Vaccination Coverage in 204 Countries and Territories, 1980-2019

2021

This article from The Lancet estimates routine childhood vaccination coverage using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2020. This paper seeks to provide policymakers and health officials an understanding of the health challenges the globe or their individual countries face, as well as how these challenges change over time. The GBD papers incorporate the prevalence of a disease, injury, or risk factor and the relative harm they cause to align health systems with the populations they serve.

Led by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, GBD is a global effort with researchers from over 150 countries and territories. IHME and other partnering organizations have developed numerous resources to disseminate and visualize the findings of the GBD studies, data visualizations and interactives, country profiles, policy reports, research articles, infographics, and the GBD Results Tool, which allows users to search GBD data.
