Teaching Essentials for Global Health Teaching Fellows

2024

This guide curated by the Global Health Education and Learning Incubator (GHELI) at Harvard University is intended to help promote excellence in global health teaching. It provides an overview of the global health learning environment at Harvard, what is meant by “global health,” and insights and tools for running a successful classroom as a global health teaching fellow (TF). While some of the insights are focused on the Harvard ecosystem, the principles and practices for starting a successful discussion section are translatable across institutions of higher education.

This guide also provides information about where global health fits into the Harvard undergraduate curriculum and how individuals can explore and prepare for a career in global health—no matter what discipline they pursue. Many of the resources were adapted from materials developed by the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.

The Global Health Education and Learning Incubator at Harvard University supports interdisciplinary education about world health through the production, curation, and dissemination of educational public goods.
