Education in a Post-COVID World: Toward a RAPID Transformation

2023

This report from the World Health Organization (WHO) uses country-level survey data to analyze policy measures and initiatives taken during school closures and reopenings during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Marking three years since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, the report reviews measures adopted by schools to recover learning losses, and their progress across the RAPID framework, a set of five key actions developed to guide education recovery. The RAPID framework involves: reaching every child and keeping them in school, assessing learning levels, prioritizing teaching fundamentals, increasing instruction efficiency, and developing psychosocial health. The report also discusses the future of transforming education systems, offering recommendations for building more equitable, resilient, and efficient education systems for all.

This report is accompanied by an advocacy brief and downloadable regional briefs.
