Children's Health: NCDs

2017

These compiled resources on children and noncommunicable diseases and associated risk factors are part of the resource pack on children’s health  curated by the Global Health Education and Learning Incubator. The selected resources provide an introduction to the circumstances and risk factors—physical inactivity, poor diet, tobacco use, mental health disorders, and obesity—that make children vulnerable to noncommunicable diseases. While local determinants of health contribute to the escalating risks among youth, resources are included that acknowledge the contributions of the shifting global dynamics in agriculture, international trade, economics, and urbanization. While most resources are globally relevant, a subset of resources focus on the United States, where evidence-based policy is making strides against tobacco use and obesity.
