Annotated Bibliography: Global Health & Migration

2016

This annotated bibliography provides resources for educators interested in teaching about the health impacts of migration, and suggestions about how educators may integrate these resources into their teaching. Resources include reports, books, articles, and essays, as well as courses and organizational websites related to these diverse themes.

As people move across borders—whether by choice or forced by circumstances such as natural disaster, conflict, or economic need—their health can be impacted directed and indirectly, through changes in their housing, employment, education, and nutrition. This reading guide illustrates the interdisciplinary and interconnected nature of health and migration through related topics, including as refugees in humanitarian crises, the specific health challenges faced by displaced or migrating children and women, migration and mental health, and the health impacts of displacement caused by development or climate change.
