Lancet Series 2016: The Health of People Who Live in Slums

2016

This Lancet Series examines and evaluates the health and well-being of the nearly 1 billion people currently living in slums. The authors discuss opportunities to alleviate the health burdens and improve the social characteristics of such neighborhoods, while calling for a more established discipline of study to further analyze the possibilities for those living in these conditions. They conclude that awareness must be raised if sufficient gains are to be made in developing solutions to handle the challenges faced by people who live in slums.
