The Global Gender Gap Report 2023

2023

This report from the World Economic Forum measures gender disparities in 146 countries and tracks their progress over time, focusing on the relative gaps between women and men across four key dimensions: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment. The 2023 edition indicates that it will take more than a century to close the global gender gap, and while it finds the global parity score has recovered to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels, the rate of change has significantly slowed.  While gaps in educational attainment and health and survival are nearly closed worldwide, progress on gaps in economic participation and opportunity and political empowerment continue to lag.

The report examines the state of gender gaps in the workforce, as structural barriers and economic shocks continue to largely—and disproportionately- impact women’s participation in the labor market.  The report provides data and figures for gender gaps in labor force participation, representation across industries, leadership, STEM occupations, political representation, and more. The report is accompanied by a summary of key findings, a digital version of the report, shareable infographics, and country profiles
