Lessons Learned From Diverse Efforts to Change Social Norms and Opportunities and Strategies to Promote Behavior Change in Behavioral Health

2017

This report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine summarizes the proceedings of two workshops held in 2015: “Lessons Learned from Diverse Efforts to Change Social Norms” and “Opportunities and Strategies to Promote Behavior Change in Behavioral Health.” These workshops, overseen by the Committee on the Science of Changing Behavioral Health Norms, provided input to that committee’s publication, Ending Discrimination Against People with Mental and Substance Use Disorders, which was issued to aid federal departments in integrating scientific evidence into efforts to improve public attitudes toward and understanding of behavioral health, particularly mental health and substance use disorders.
