Resource Pack: Population Dynamics and Demographics

2023

The current state of the world’s population is one of unprecedented demographic change, largely because of diverse patterns of fertility, mortality, and migration. These demographic forces (fertility, mortality, and migration) are transforming the size, structure, and spatial distribution of populations, varying by region. The materials in this resource pack on population dynamics and demographics detail the implications of demographic forces on the rate of population growth and change in age-structure (e.g., youth bulge, aging). The creation of sustainable policies which support the growth and enhanced freedoms of women, children, and migrants will be essential for building a world in which populations can flourish.

This pack includes a wide variety of resources including reports, articles, fact sheets, data, multimedia, and a list of organizations. The multidisciplinary materials may be suitable for students across many grade levels – mainly at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Learning objectives and supporting materials will vary depending on how the material is used in a course. Brief annotations provide a cursory summary.
