Progress for Every Child in the SDG Era

2019

This report published by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) gives an update on the global progression towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to the health and well-being of children. It outlines the 17 SDGs and how they relate to the 5 dimensions of children’s rights: surviving and thriving, learning, protection from violence and exploitation, living in a safe and clean environment, and receiving a fair chance. It then shows the overall progress in each of these 5 dimensions. This brief supplements and offers high-level updates to the major 2018 Progress for Every Child in the SDG Era report, which details the indicators relevant to children’s rights, describes the need for improved data collection on the needs of the world’s children, and identifies successful innovations in collecting and using SDG data in support of children. This 2019 brief is accompanied by a data dashboard that allows users to view regional and country-level indicator data, save specific data points to an exportable workbook, and visualize global progress on an interactive map. A collection of 202 country profiles provide country-level data for each of the 44 SDG indicators related to child welfare.
