INFORM GRI 2024: Index for Risk Management

2024

INFORM (Index for Risk Management) is an open-source risk assessment data portal for humanitarian crises and disasters, designed to support decisions about prevention, preparedness, and response. The global risk index identifies countries at risk of crises and disasters that could overwhelm their national response capacity, covering 191 countries at the national and international levels. INFORM’s Global Risk Index (GRI) uses three major dimensions: hazard and exposure, vulnerability, and lack of coping capacity that include 80 different indicators, including natural hazards, vulnerable populations, socioeconomic factors, and infrastructure. GRI results are available and comparable for trend analysis for five years. The INFORM data portal also includes downloadable results and interpretation analyses, an interactive mapINFORM publications, and country profiles. These profiles provide trends, comparisons with global peers, regional and income-group averages, risk indicators, and risk dimensions. Users can also view INFORM’s methodology and subnational models, which detail risks and their underlying contributing factors across a single global region or country.
