Lancet Series 2019: Gender Equality, Norms, and Health
2019
This Lancet Series provides analysis and insight into the impact of gender inequalities and norms on health, as well as the opportunities that exist within health systems, programs, policies, and research to transform those norms and inequalities. It aims to inform the global health community on how to recognize restrictive gender inequalities and their intersections with other social inequalities—including those related to age, race and ethnicity, religion, and socioeconomic status—and how to better incorporate transformed gender norms into program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation toward the goal of improved health for all, including women and girls, men and boys, and gender minorities.
Series papers include:
- Gender Inequality and Restrictive Gender Norms: Framing the Challenges to Health
- Gender Norms and Health: Insights From Global Survey Data
- Improving Health With Programmatic, Legal, and Policy Approaches to Reduce Gender Inequality and Change Restrictive Gender Norms
- Disrupting Gender Norms in Health Systems: Making the Case for Change
