Unjust Climate: Measuring the Impacts of Climate Change on Rural Poor, Women and Youth

This report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) examines the impacts of climate change on rural populations in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. Gathering data from 24 countries worldwide, the report aims to explore how climate change impacts the livelihoods and economic conditions of vulnerable rural populations worldwide, including those living in poverty, women, and young people. The report explores how extreme weather events such as extreme heat and flooding impact the income, labor, and agricultural strategies for vulnerable rural populations and outlines disparities across wealth status, age, and gender. The report also presents recommendations for inclusive climate priorities, including social protection programs, climate adaptation strategies, and prioritizing the needs of rural populations worldwide.
