E-Cigarette Use Among Youth and Young Adults: A Report of the Surgeon General

2016

This report from the U.S. Surgeon General emphasizes that e-cigarette use among youth and young adults has become a public health concern, now being the most commonly used tobacco product among youth, surpassing conventional cigarettes in 2014. There is a strong association with e-cigarettes and the use of other tobacco products among youth and young adults, including combustible tobacco products. The report emphasizes that actions should be taken to specifically incorporate e-cigarettes into smoke-free policies, and suggests using methods such as tax policies, regulation, marketing, and educational initiatives to target youth and young adults. The landmark report is accompanied by an executive summary, advisory video, and an FAQ brief.
