Monitoring the Future: 2022 Findings on Adolescent Drug Use
2023
This data publication from the Institute of Social Research at the University of Michigan presents findings from Monitoring the Future, a long-term, annual study of substance use and related factors among U.S. adolescents, college students, and adult high school graduates. This publication summarizes findings about 8th, 10th, and 12th grade substance use in 2022. The 2022 overview reports that after the broad declines in substance use in 2021, lowered levels of usage continued for some drugs, while other drugs saw increases in use. In particular, lowered levels of cannabis use and nicotine vaping continued into 2022, while alcohol use rebounded to pre-pandemic levels.
