Universal Health Coverage: An Opportunity to Address Antimicrobial Resistance?

2019

This article in The Lancet Global Health links the 2019 United Nations (UN) high-level meeting on universal health coverage to the high-level meeting three years ago, about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). If AMR is not controlled, health costs will rise; if universal health coverage expands, it can prevent and manage this growing issue. The piece outlines the role of political leadership, investment, and health systems strengthening that is critical to success of both universal health coverage and AMR control.
