Global Nutrition Report 2022
2022
This data-driven report from Development Initiatives Poverty Research Ltd. documents the world’s nutritional progress towards targets established by the World Health Assembly, offering a comprehensive look at challenges influencing malnutrition on a global scale. The 2022 report focuses specifically on global commitments to nutrition, assessing the role of accountability in addressing the global nutrition crisis. In 2021, the Global Nutrition Report was tasked to create the world’s first independent nutrition accountability framework or the NAF. This year’s report details this new global framework and analyzes the commitments made by stakeholders–governments, international organizations, private sector businesses, academia, and more– toward improving nutrition outcomes worldwide. The report highlights the types of commitments made and their objectives and provides an overview of individual stakeholders and their contributions toward nutrition action. The report finds that low-and middle-income countries committed over US$42.6 billion toward nutrition. The report also outlines areas requiring more coordinated action, such as nutrition goals focused on improving food security, poor diets, and obesity.
