Resource Pack: Organizations - Foundations

2024

This collection is one of several included in our Resource Pack: Core Global Health Organizations, which includes examples of global health actors (i.e., institutions, organizations, and alliances) that operate within our increasingly complex global health system. It is intended to support teaching and learning about global governance (i.e., the ways we tackle transnational health issues in a globalized and interdependent world, including how institutional actors, organizational structures, and policy making processes play a role).

This collection focuses specifically on Philanthropic Organizations or Foundations. In addition to arguably the largest global health actor in this category, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the collection includes selected examples of foundations that have included global health as part of their portfolio, such as The Rockefeller Foundation, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the Commonwealth Fund.
