Private Sector Shared Value and Global Health and Safety

2016

This National Academies report summarizes a workshop on shared value in an era of changing business models and values. As stakeholders in global health and safety industries are pushed to find new and sustainable ways to expand their companies, the National Academies organized a workshop to explore options for moving forward. Focusing on the private sector’s impact on the field of global health, the participants considered opportunities to create shared value by aligning the goals of businesses with the needs of society. They conclude that, by addressing current and future challenges of the global health sector, investing in employee health and safety, and establishing new incentives to follow through, businesses can make a significant impact on the creation of shared value across all organizations.
