Global Human Development Indicators: Country Profiles

2022

This web portal, published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), provides key human development data for 191 countries and territories worldwide. Users can explore data for individual countries across indices including the Human Development Index (HDI) and metrics estimating gender gaps, inequality, planetary pressures, and poverty. These interactive country profiles allow users to analyze and compare human development data between countries. Individual country data is also available for download.

The Human Development Report office evaluates countries on six human development indices each year: the Human Development Index (HDI), the Gender Development Index (GDI), the Inequality-Adjusted Human Development Index (IHDI), the Gender Inequality Index (GII), the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), and the Planetary Pressures-Adjusted HDI (PHDI). These indices reflect the UNDP concept of human development that emphasizes that people and their capabilities should be the ultimate criteria for assessing a country’s development, rather than economic growth alone. These profiles accompany the 2021/22 edition of the Human Development Report
