2024

The Population Reference Bureau (PRB) is a private, nonprofit organization focused on conducting and using demographic data analysis to inform the public about the population, health, and the environment and to engage researchers, policy makers, and advocates with evidence on these issues. The PRB has several ongoing projects and initiatives in the United States and internationally with partners in the government, nonprofit, research, business, and philanthropy sectors. The PRB produces large data sheets and data interactives with key findings on world population indicators, United States demographic indicators, and international data organized by country and indicator. The organization aims to use data-driven, evidence-based analysis to create new policies and practices – thus improving population and environmental health and empowering communities to advance their well-being.

The PRB analyzes data and creates its initiatives around several focus areas of research including AgingChildren, Youth, and FamiliesCoronavirusFamily Planning, Maternal and Reproductive HealthInequality and Poverty, and Social and Environmental Dimensions of Health. The PRB provides up-to-date research in many forms of resources, including an extensive interactive data portal with indicator data on a regional, country, and international level; it also produces data sheets for educators, students, and other organizations to explore demographic health topics through accessible information and data analytics. Other key resources include multimedia presentations aimed at policy advocates, population bulletin publications on specific research topics meant for researchers, journalists, and government decisionmakers, and additional information located within the resource library
