The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation dedicated to several issues in global health, global development, economic and educational justice in the United States, and advocacy. The Gates Foundation awards grants in collaboration with other partners, develops strategies for resource allocation, and invests in partners and programs related to its goals. The Gates Foundation works in India, China, and countries in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. It focuses on female and student empowerment, economic empowerment, and building strong communities. Some of the key areas of work of the Gates Foundation are communicable diseases and vaccine development, technology solutions, emergency response and global delivery programs, agricultural development, K-12 education and economic mobility, and policy.
