2019 Family Planning Data Sheet

2019

The 2019 Family Planning Data Sheet from the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) is a data publication comparing the modern contraceptive methods used across 160 countries around the world. Globally, 62 percent of married women ages 15 to 49 use family planning methods, with 56 percent using a modern form of contraceptives. Modern methods include the pill, intrauterine devices, implants, injectables, condoms and sterilization. The methods selected by women vary drastically across the world. The rates of contraceptive use are twice as high for women living in high-income countries compared to women living in low-income countries—an indication of the differences in access, availability, and demand for modern forms of contraceptives.
