United Nations Children's Fund

2024

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) promotes the rights and well-being of every child. Today, UNICEF is active in more than 190 countries and territories through country programs and National Committees. UNICEF programs focus on the most disadvantaged children, including those living in fragile contexts, those with disabilities, those who are affected by rapid urbanization, and those affected by environmental degradation. UNICEF’s goals include: promoting policies and expanding access to services that protect all children; reducing child mortality; supporting quality learning for every girl and boy; providing emergency aid; and ensuring female participation in political, social, and economic systems. In all of its work, UNICEF takes a life-cycle-based approach, recognizing the particular importance of early childhood development and adolescence, highlighted in its flagship report, The State of the World’s Children.

Resources published by this organization that individuals can access also include datasets and data interactives, reports, country profiles, and stories, which showcase stories of youth around the world.
