The U.S. Government Engagement in Global Health: A Primer

2019

This primer, published by the Henry J Kaiser Family Foundation, takes a broader view of the government. It includes descriptions of governmental departments or entities such as the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). It also describes key program areas in which the U.S. is involved in global health, including the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), summarizes the country’s budget for global health and various types of aid, and explains how the U.S. works together with other global health organizations.
