UN-Water SDG 6 Data Portal

2024

This data portal from United Nations Water (UN-Water) provides global data on numerous indicators related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 on water and sanitation. SDG 6 seeks to ensure that everyone has access to safe drinking water and sanitation, and focuses on the sustainable management of water resources, wastewater, and ecosystems. Indicators tracked by the data portal include the percentage of the world’s population that use water from a safe source, the percentage of the world’s population that has access to handwashing facilities, along with 10 others. A user can select an indicator to view global data related to that topic or select a country to view all indicators related to that specific place.

United Nations Water (UN-Water) provides coordination among UN agencies to harmonize efforts towards water-related policies. With over 30 UN organizations implementing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, UN-Water serves as an oversight agency ensuring that the United Nations delivers a consistent response to water-related challenges. The organization accomplishes this by informing policies, providing quality data and information related to water, and coordinating World Water Day among UN organizations.
