Manual for the Surveillance of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

2014

The manual from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides current guidelines regarding surveillance activities for vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD). The report is mainly targeted towards personnel at local health departments. For each VPD, there is a corresponding chapter in the report describing the importance of rapid case identification, surveillance, disease reduction goals, case definitions, and epidemiologically important data to be collected during case investigations – as well as activities for enhancing surveillance, case investigation, and outbreak control.
